Day 1: Kigali
Welcome to Rwanda! You will arrive on your flight into Kigali International Airport.
A handler will assist you with a fast-track service through immigrations and luggage collection. You will be assisted to check-in after which you will spend the day at leisure in the comfort of your room. Dinner will be brought you.
Day 2: Kigali
Enjoy breakfast at leisure. If you test results are ready in the morning, your guide will collect you for a Kigali City Tour – based on your wishes (tour with vehicle, walk with local guide in a vibrant neighbourhood, visit of the genocide memorial, visit Rwandan Art gallery, fashion, jewellery, souvenir shops, visit a typical Rwanda coffeeshop).
After the tour, you will be taken back to your villa in time to freshen up for dinner at the Villa with your guide and have a briefing about the tour.
Day 3: Akagera National Park
After a decadent breakfast, your guide will collect you for a transfer to Akagera National Park. Along the way you will see different plantations, busy daily lifestyle of Rwandan local people. On arrival, you will have a briefing behind the scenes about history of the park and development of conservancy and wildlife.
You will be assisted to check in, after which you will enjoy lunch at the lodge.
In afternoon enjoy a thrilling boat trip on the lake as a result you will be able to see and get closer to some of the water loving animals you should expect include hippos, and crocodiles. Occasionally you may see some buffaloes, elephants and antelopes on the shores which would have come to drink water.
After you boat trip, enjoy a night safari with local ranger to spot nocturnal wildlife.
Day 4: Akagera National Park
After breakfast, you will be exploring the park by a safari with local ranger to the
northern part. This safari gives you a full day with beautiful scenery, viewpoints and great wildlife like buffalos, elephants, antelopes as elands, Topi, Masai giraffes, monkeys, savannah birds, civets, leopards, hyenas, and cats as serval cats and lions.
You will be accompanied by the local ranger who is knowledgeable about the flora and the fauna that is found in the park and will be explaining more on your safari. Picnic lunch in the park. After your safari experience, you be taken to your lodge. Check in at the lodge and enjoy the view over the plains with sunset.
Day 5: Kigali
Early morning wake-up and have a coffee/tea and some fruits. You will be collected to enjoy an early morning safari with local ranger spotting for wildlife in the park, this safari holds a full surprise as nature reveals its treasures in form of wonders that are so scenic.
You will check-out and you guide will collect you for a transfer back to Kigali.
Upon arrival, you will check-in and enjoy the afternoon at leisure.
Day 6: Lake Kivu
After breakfast you will have a transfer to the Southern part of Lake Kivu. Enjoy a picnic style lunch (own account) on a nice spot with a view, before making your way to your lodge.
Upon arrival at your lodge, you will be assisted to check-in after which you can enjoy the afternoon relaxing at the lodge.
Day 7: Lake Kivu
Early morning breakfast. You will collect you for a transfer to the Park office in Nyungwe National Park for briefing and meet your local ranger. You will hike through the forest with local ranger searching for primates. Nyungwe has 13 primates which include Angolan Colobus, L’Hoest monkey, Owl faced monkey, Blue monkey, Dent’s Mona Monkey, Vervet monkeys.
After your primate experience, you head back to the lodge where you will enjoy lunch at leisure. Freshen up in time for an afternoon in the forest for a 2 hour hike and explore the 60m long canopy walk.
Day 8: Lake Kivu
Early morning breakfast. Today you will be collected for a transfer to the Park office for briefing about your hike in Nyungwe National Park to enjoy an incredible chimpanzee trekking experience with local ranger and porters to spot the chimpanzee in the forest.
After trekking the chimpanzees, you will head back to the lodge where you will enjoy lunch before checking out. You guide will collect you for a transfer to your next destination – Lake Kivu – Central Region. You will have a beautiful coastline drive along the Southern part of Lake Kivu to Kibuye/ Kinune.
Day 9: Volcanoes National Park
After your breakfast you will visit a coffee washing station with a short tour on a
plantation enjoy a Rwandan coffee tasting. Continue with exploring the Congo Nile Trail with stunning views of the Lake Kivu coastline by hiking with a local guide.
Your guide will collect you and proceed with a transfer to Musanze (Volcanoes National Park).
Day 10: Volcanoes National Park
Early morning breakfast. Transfer to headquarters for a briefing to prepare for your
trekking.
Hike with local ranger to find the gorilla family and spent 1 hour with them. New World Safaris will offer a free porter per person who will assist you with your daypack, and give you hand when the path is slippery, steep, or irregular. The porters are from the local community and registered by the Rwanda Wildlife Authority, in this way we also support the local community.
Day 11: End of Itinerary
Sadly, it’s time to say goodbye to this beautiful country. We hope you enjoyed your
journey through Rwanda. After breakfast you will be transferred to Kigali International Airport where you will board your flight back home.
