Costa Rica, The Pura Vida Life

A Family Adventure Immersed in Nature

An Experience We’ll Never Forget

Travelling as a family of six is always an adventure, but Costa Rica exceeded every expectation. From wildlife-filled rainforests to adrenaline-filled activities enjoyed by all four of our children (aged 14, 13, 11 and 6), the journey struck the perfect balance between nature, excitement and quality family time.

Our trip began in Arenal, where crossing the famous hanging bridges high above the rainforest felt like stepping into an adventure film, surrounded by monkeys, birds and lush scenery. In Sarapiquí, quiet river paddling brought us face-to-face with howler monkeys, creating unforgettable moments for the whole family.

Caribbean Coast & Wildlife Encounters

A completely different rhythm

The Caribbean coast offered a slower, more relaxed pace. Puerto Viejo welcomed us with its laid-back charm, while Cahuita National Park blended jungle trails with pristine beaches and effortless wildlife spotting.

Kayaking in the calm waters of Punta Uva quickly became a family favourite, and a guided visit to the Manzanillo Wildlife Reserve gave our children a deeper understanding of Costa Rica’s biodiversity and conservation values.

Why Costa Rica is Perfect for Families

This trip was more than just a holiday

One of the standout moments of the trip was our family canyoning adventure, where we rappelled down waterfalls and jungle ravines together, cheering each other on every step of the way. It was an experience that showcased how Costa Rica makes adventure safe, inclusive and accessible for all ages.

With manageable travel distances, strong infrastructure and a welcoming attitude toward families, Costa Rica proved to be an ideal destination. Thanks to seamless planning by Royal Travel, our self-drive journey was smooth and stress-free. Of all the places we’ve travelled together, Costa Rica remains one we’ll remember for years to come.
