Day 1: Arrival in Kuching
Arrive in Kuching airport in the morning. Discover Kuching in a walking tour visiting the Tua Pek Kong Chinese Temple, colourful local markets and spice shops. View the Astana from the waterfront.
Day 2: Kuching – Bako National Park – Kuching
Explore Bako National Park, 16 square kilometers of primary forest and wildlife and its natural beauty of rocks and cliffs. There are 25 types of vegetation ranging from lush cliffs and lowland dipterocarp forests to almost desert-like scrubs on the upper plateau. Observe up close wild orchids, pitcher plants and look out for proboscis monkeys, bearded pigs and hundreds of bird species.
Day 3: Kuching – Mulu
Fly to Mulu National Park home to the largest cave passage in the world and known to have 1500 species of flowering plants, 170 species of wild orchids and 67 species of animals. Transfer to your hotel and at your own leisure.
In the afternoon, enjoy the 3 km raised plank walk to explore the Deer and Lang Caves – the largest cave passage in the world. Walk through the peat swamp forest, and if the weather permits, be mesmerized by millions of bats which flying around the cave each evening.
Day 4: Mulu National Park
Explore more of Mulu caves with a boat ride to Clearwater Cave. Swim at a crystal-clear water pool near the Clearwater Cave. Explore the Wind Cave and visit a Batu Bungan Penan native Settlement.
Day 5: Mulu – Kota Kinabalu
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport for your onward flight to Kota Kinabalu. Transfer to your hotel on arrival. Free at leisure.
Day 6: Kota Kinabalu – Kudat
Visit Kota Belud, home to the Cowboys of the East, the Bajau, a small sleepy town except during the native market day every Sunday. Explore a Rungus longhouse, the Rungus natives are known for their beads and basket-weaving handicraft. Enjoy the spectacular sunset at the northern most tip of Borneo, overlooking the South China Sea.
Day 7: Kota Kinabalu – Sandakan
Early pickup from Hotel to Kota Kinabalu Airport (RECOMMENED FLIGHT ETD@0700HRS) to Sandakan. [Packed breakfast]
transfer to Sandakan jetty for 2½ hours boat journey to the multi awards winning Sukau Rainforest Lodge along Sabah’s longest river, Kinabatangan with opportunity to view birds and wildlife. Take an afternoon river cruise in search of wildlife and birds using a boat. Enjoy a scrumptious dinner overlooking the riverbank followed by slide presentation and interpretation by naturalist guide. Stay overnight at the Sukau Rainforest Lodge – Borneo Villa.
Day 8: Sukau Rainforest Lodge
Take a 0600hrs morning river cruise up the Kinabatangan River to Kelenanap oxbow lake to view more birds and wildlife. After breakfast, proceed for an educational tour along the lodge’s Hornbill Boardwalk with our in-house naturalist. After lunch, join our in-house Orang Utan Talk activity. In the afternoon, we proceed for another river cruise for more wildlife. Stay overnight at the Sukau Rainforest Lodge – Borneo Villa
Day 9: Borneo Rainforest Lodge
0630HRS – Check out early and proceed 2.5 hours overland to Lahad Datu where we’ll stopover for registration. Then continue to drive 83km to Borneo Rainforest Lodge which is surrounded by pristine virgin rainforests. In the evening a slide show and explore nature trail leading to canopy walkway. If weather permits, we go spotlighting to view some of the nocturnal animals. Stay overnight at the Borneo Rainforest Lodge.
Day 10: Borneo Rainforest Lodge
Spend the whole day exploring the forest for birds and mammals, leading up to an escarpment with ancient burial coffins. Trek to waterfall for a refreshing dip in rock pools. Return to lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, explore more trails. Stay overnight at the Borneo Rainforest Lodge
Day 11: Lahat Datu – Mabul Island
Free at leisure until check-out to Lahad Datu. Proceed another overland journey that approximately took about 3 hours journey to arrive Semporna Jetty for drop off @ 1600Hrs. Arrived at Semporna Jetty and proceed for an hour boat ride to Mabul Island for check-in. Free at own leisure. Stay overnight at Mabul Water Bungalow.
Day 12-13: Mabul Island
Enjoy the day free at own leisure. Stay overnight at Mabul Water Bungalow.
Day 14: Mabul Island Departure
