Day 1: Arrival to San Cristobal
Upon arrival at the San Cristobal airport, we are welcomed by our English-speaking nature guide. As an introduction to our Galapagos program, we will visit the island’s Interpretation Center, where we will learn about the formation of the archipelago as well as the evolution of human settlement. Afterwards, we will hike to the “Cerro de las Tijeretas” (Frigatebird Rock) and to various viewpoints, where we can observe frigate birds and giant frigate birds. The evening is at our disposal to wander around Puerto Baquerizo Moreno.
Day 2: San Cristobal – Boat Trip Leon Dormido
After breakfast, we will take a boat to the rocky island of Kicker Rock, whose silhouette resembles a sleeping lion and which is one of the best diving spots in Galapagos. We will be able to observe bird colonies such as blue-footed boobies and pelicans on the cliffs and go snorkeling to see marine species such as the hammerhead shark. Afterwards, we will go to the beach of Puerto Grande, where we can see many hermit crabs, salt water pools, mangroves and dry plants. (Depending on the day of the week, we will visit the beach of Manglecito or Punta Carola instead of Puerto Grande.).
Day 3: San Cristobal – Highland – Puerto Chino – Loberia
Today, we will explore the highlands of San Cristobal: First, we will visit the “Galapaguera de Cerro Colorado”, home of the famous giant tortoises. Afterwards, we can plunge into the cold waters together with sea lions at the beach of Puerto Chino. In the afternoon, we will go to the “Loberia”, which is the ideal place to observe and photograph sea lions and also spot cliff crabs and large Black Sea lizards. Besides, we will have time to snorkel and relax on the beach.
Day 4: San Cristobal – Boat Trip Española
In the morning, we will take the boat to Española Island, where we will go ashore in Punta Suarez for a hike to the famous “blowhole”. On the way, we will see many birds such as blue-footed boobies, Nazca boobies and Galapagos albatrosses. In the afternoon, we will visit Gardner Bay, a gorgeous white sand beach that is home to colonies of sea lions. Here we can snorkel and discover the underwater world.
Day 5: Departure from San Cristobal
On our last day on the Galapagos, we can relax once more on the beach before departing San Cristobal back to Quito or Guayaquil. We wish you a good and safe flight!
